Five easy plant based breakfast ideas

1. Classic Oatmeal
Oats are packed with iron, fibre and protein. In fact, 1 cup of oatmeal provides 11 grams of protein and a whopping 19% of your daily iron needs. Oats are also a slow release carbohydrate, which means you will stay full and energized for hours after. Tip - Pair your oats with vitamin rich fruits like kiwi, strawberries and orange. Consuming iron rich foods with vitamin C enhances your iron absorption!
2. Avocado Toast
Whole grain toast topped with creamy avocado, you can't beat it! Avocado is a monounsaturated omega 3 fat. The benefits of Omega 3's are endless - they decrease rick factors for cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, assist with neurological development and cognitive function and help to lower inflammation in the body. Plus, because fat takes longer to make it's way through our digestive tract, it leaves us feeling fuller for longer (just fill up on the right kind).
Tip - Top your avo toast with hemp seeds, flaxseeds or chia seeds to really pump up your omega 3 intake!
3. Green Smoothie 
We are busy, there's no doubt about it. Often cooking a delicious recipe from scratch with a million ingredients, bowls and pans is not realistic. We tend to opt for the easy way out, which usually means processed, harmful and nutritionally poor food choices. 
A green smoothie for breakfast can ensure you get your days worth of goodness all in one cup. Pack in fibre, mineral and vitamin rich rich greens like kale and spinach, banana, flaxseed, your choice of plant milk along with Nutra Organics Clean Greens powder.

4. Protein Pancakes
Just because you're aiming to be healthy, doesn't mean you need to miss out on favourites like pancakes drizzled with syrup! Check our one our favourite no fuss pancake recipes;
 
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup vegan protein powder of choice (our pick- Nutra Ogranics Vanilla Thriving Protein)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup water + more as needed
  1. Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Add the maple syrup, then slowly mix in the water. It should be a little lumpy and quite thick. Add a little extra water if needed.
  3. Cook in a hot non-stick pan until bubbles appear in the centre of each pancake. Flip and cook for a few more minutes.

5. Chia Pudding
 
Chia seeds provide a massive amount of nutrients, fibre, protein and contain omega 3 fats to make your skin glow. Paired with a plant based milk, natural granola, pumpkin seeds and fruit, you have a mouth watering dessert for breakfast.
It is SUPER easy to make - 
1 1/2 cups dairy free milk (we love coconut)
1/2 cup chia seeds
1-2 Tbsp maple syrup (more or less to taste)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix together and pop in the fridge overnight ready to gobble up in the morning!
